The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Iloilo, led by District Collector Giovanni N. Imaysay together with Deputy Collector for Operations, Ms. Luvizminda D. Aragon, and the members of the Auction and Cargo Disposal Unit, successfully turned over the seized and forfeited casino poker chips to the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Region VI, represented by PAGCOR Treasury Officer, Mr. Arturo Badilla Jr., on August 16, 2023, at the Iloilo Customhouse Building, Iloilo City.
Also present as witnesses during the turn-over were the officials from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, the Enforcement and Security Service, and the Commission on Audit’s resident auditor.
The disposal of 360 poker chips with various denominations and other gambling paraphernalia is pursuant to Section 1147 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and Section 10.2 of Customs Administrative Order No. 03-2020. These gambling paraphernalia were seized in Kalibo International Airport and Boracay Airport in November 2022 and January 2023, respectively.
Under the leadership of Collector Imaysay and the guidance of Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, the BOC-Port of Iloilo remains committed in strengthening border control against the entry of prohibited goods in the Western Visayas region.#
