The Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark International Airport turned over, on October 28, 2021, various illegal substance and derivatives with an estimated value of Php 213, 000.00 to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III.

Committed in protecting the border against the entry of unlawful substances, derivatives such as Hemp Oil, CBD Oil, Cannativa capsules, 101 pieces vape cartridges and Flora Sopia Hemp were found to contain Marijuana, a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165, through the strict profiling of shipments by Examiners and Chemical Laboratory Analysis by PDEA.

Said items were seized in different dates and were forfeited in favor of the government for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d) and 1113 (f) of R.A. No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) in relation to R.A. No. 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Hence, the same were turned over to PDEA for disposition.

The Port of Clark echoes the clarification/statement issued by PDEA & DDB on December 10, 2020 that “while cannabis, commonly known as marijuana, has been removed from Schedule IV of the international drug control convention which acknowledges that it may have potential therapeutic or medicinal value, it remains a dangerous drug and products with cannabis still need to acquire and comply with the regulatory control requirements of PDEA, FDA & other government agencies to ensure safety and prevent its use for recreational purposes.”

The Port of Clark, in coordination with PDEA and other regulating agencies, will remain steadfast in strictly implementing measures to prevent the entry of cannabis and other dangerous drugs.
