The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Davao, through its Sub-port in Dadiangas, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) has again intercepted 739 reams of illicit cigarettes valued at Php 369,500 at Purok Wal, Brgy. Tambler, General Santos City, November 28, 2021.This is following its recent apprehension of the same contraband valued at Php 2.35 M on November 26, 2021.

The seized cigarettes were taken into custody by the Port’s Enforcement and Security Services (ESS) and the suspect is temporarily withheld at GSCPO for filing of appropriate charges.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was already issued against the smuggled items for violating Section 1113 in relation to Section 117 and Section 1400 of Republic Act No. 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
