BOC Davao (Sub-port of Dadiangas) Seizes Php 2.35M worth of Illicit Cigarettes

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Davao, through its Sub-port in Dadiangas, and the Philippine National Police (PNP), Regional Intelligence Division XII and Libungan Municipal Police Station intercepted 4,710 reams of various branded cigarettes valued at Php 2.35 million at Libungan, North Cotabato on November 26, 2021.

Among the brands were Modern, Royal, Union, Fort Cigarette that were taken into custody by the Port’s Enforcement and Security Services (ESS) for proper disposition of the smuggled goods.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was already issued against the items for violating Section 1113 in relation to Section 117 and Section 1400 of Republic Act No. 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

BOC Davao will continue its intensified campaign against the smuggling of these illegally imported goods into the country led by its District Collector, Atty. Austria in line with Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero’s priority programs steering BOC to international standards in revenue collection, border protection and trade facilitation.
