The Bureau of Customs – Port of Subic, in partnership with Bataan General Hospital & Medical Center (BGHMC) conducted a virtual Governance Sharing on November 3, 2021 via Zoom Teleconference.
Organized and facilitated by the Port’s Office of Strategy Management (OSM), the activity was attended by the Port’s District Collector, Maritess T. Martin alongside Atty. Aileen E. Amada-Tortoles, Deputy Collector for Administration and Senior OSM Representative, Pocholo D. Mangohig, Customs Operations Officer III and Junior OSM Representative, and Cynthia D. Lizada, Administrative Officer I and Junior OSM Representative with the port’s Multi-Sectoral Advisory Council (MSAC) partner Dr. Glory V. Baltazar of BGHMC.
Port of Subic discussed its current PGS Journey as well as its recent innovations and achievements, specifically the Port’s breakthrough on full automation, and local learning and development programs for its personnel which aim to achieve better quality of service to the transacting public. Collector Martin also shared that the Port continuously coordinates with other government agencies to curb smuggling specifically of agricultural products.
Meanwhile, Dr. Baltazar shared their PGS journey and best practices on governance sharing. BGHMC is a Level III teaching-and-training-hospital. Aside from being an ISO-accredited institution, BGHMC has successfully passed the first two stages of the Performance Governance System (PGS), the Initiation and Compliance stages which made BGHMC one of gauge of hospitals for PGS. She also emphasized that all of the accomplishments of BGHMC were made possible by the hardworking and dedicated hospital personnel.
Collector Martin, in her closing remarks, expressed her gratitude to OSM, and most especially to Dr. Baltazar for the privilege of learning from her through her sharing of BGHMC’s birth pains. She stressed that it only proves that with good effort and vision, nothing is impossible. “The Probinsyang Hospital is now a model hospital”, she added.
In its consistent support to the Bureau’s PGS journey, under the guidance of Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, the Port of Subic shall be consistently sharing its best practices and good governance with BGHMC to further clear the way towards a modernized, credible and world class Customs administration.
