BOC-Clark, CAIDTF, ESS, CIIS, XIP & PDEA Seize PhP 27.4-Million worth of Shabu, 2 Claimants Arrested in Taguig City

May 27, 2022

Further reinforcing the anti-illegal drugs campaign mandated by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero and President Rodrigo Duterte, the Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, together with the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), Enforcement & Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) & Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), seized 3,982 grams of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or “Shabu” with an estimated value of Php 27,475,000.00 and arrested two (2) claimants in a controlled delivery operation last May 25, 2022.

The Bureau of Customs discovered the illegal drugs in a shipment said to contain “paints” from Silver Spring, Maryland, USA which arrived last May 20, 2022. The same was subjected to x-ray scanning which showed images of organic substances that prompted the conduct of 100% physical examination which led to the findings of four (4) foil packs containing white crystalline substances suspected to be Shabu.

The CAIDTF conducted K9 sweeping which showed positive indications of illegal drugs and field testing which yielded positive result for the presence of “Methamphetamine”. Representative samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis. The results of the analysis confirmed that the samples are indeed Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or “Shabu”, a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165.

Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued by District Collector Alexandra Lumontad against the subject shipment for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 (f) of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863 in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Joint elements of BOC & PDEA conducted a controlled delivery operation last May 25, 2022 to the consignee’s address in Taguig City which resulted to the arrest of two (2) claimants.

The Port of Clark has already seized Php94-million worth of illegal drugs from January 2022 to date. The Port will further strengthen its measures to protect the borders against illegal drugs importation.
