BOC Apprehends Php100 Million Worth of Counterfeit Products in Pasay

The Bureau of Customs (BOC), through the Port of Manila (POM), seized infringing goods worth Php100 million on May 25, 2022.

Armed with Letters of Authority (LOA) issued by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the implementing team composed of personnel from the POM-Enforcement and Security Services, POM-Formal Entry Division, Legal Service, and the Philippine Coast Guard inspected the warehouses at #115 Cuneta Avenue, Pasay City.

Prior to sealing of the subject warehouses, an initial inventory of goods was conducted, and found at the site were various infringing / counterfeit shoes, bags, and clothing apparel bearing the brands Gucci, Havaianas, Marvel, Nike, Adidas, among others.

The representatives of the warehouses were informed by the implementing team to provide importation documents and other pertinent permits covering all goods found thereat. Further investigation is also underway for other possible violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (RA 8293) and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863).

The Bureau of Customs, under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, continues to implement stringent measures to curb the proliferation of illicit goods in the country.
