Port of Subic Destroys Smuggled Cigarettes, Disposes Overstaying Containers

May 13, 2022

As part of the agency’s drive to curb smuggling and dispose of overstaying containers, the Bureau of Customs-Port of Subic destroyed illicit cigarettes and overstaying containers of assorted household goods and personal effects on May 12, 2022.

The Port condemned 9×40’ containers, three of which contain illicit cigarettes consigned to Goldlink Int’l Subic Inc. that were seized last year with a total market value of Php 95,205,000.00. The remaining shipments were overstaying containers of assorted household goods and personal effects.

The shipments were destroyed through shredding, crushing, and dumping in an accredited facility of Greenleaf 88 Non-hazardous Waste Disposal in Pampanga.

The Port assures the public that it will continue to implement measures to expedite the disposal of all overstaying containers to ensure the unhampered flow of goods in the Port while remaining steadfast in its campaign against smuggling.
