BRIEFER: 11-16 DECEMBER 2017 AT THE POM

 

In summary, the Port of Manila processed 8,701 Entriesranging from Transshipment, Warehousing, Export, Formal and Informal – generally for the period of 11-16 December 2017, among which 74 containers containing Balikbayan boxes were processed.

 

There were three (3) Warrant of Seizure issued and no Alert Order issued. There was no Auction and no new schedule for auction.

 

Back-to-Back Highest Monthly Collection

 

The Port of Manila (POM) posted back-to-back highest monthly collection in the port’s history.  The first was in October 2017 when it collected a record high of 7.10 billion.  But the October 2017 record high collection was surpassed not long after, specifically in November 2017 the POM collected a new record high of 7.417 Billion.

 

POM Hymn: Awarding of Certificate of Appreciation and Souvenir Plaques

 

A Certificate of Appreciation and a Souvenir Plaque were awarded to Mr. Valeriano Galang for the touching lyrics of the POM Hymn.  Souvenir Plaques were also awarded to those who collaborated to complete the POM Hymn and its CD design, among which are Atty. Ernelito Aquino, Atty. Pacifico Rolando. F. Tacub, Jr., Mr. Antonio Meliton Pascual, Atty. Rey Roland Bergado, Mr Leonardo Chavez and Mr. Ely Condat

 

Memo on Skeletal Force

 

Having received official declaration that 26 December 2017 and 02 January 2018 are non-working holidays, POM immediately issued a Memorandum requiring its offices/division to maintain skeletal force on those days to serve the transacting public, copy furnished related government offices. Too, letters were issued to POM branches of LandBank and PNB requesting them to be open also on those days.

 

 

POM Awarding of Commendations

 

In recognition of the back-to-back highest monthly collection[1], POM awarded Certificates of Commendations especially to those offices/divisions which surpassed their revised monthly collection targets.

 

POM’s Surprice Christmas Gift to the

Transacting Public

 

To break the monotony and as a surprise Christmas gift by the Port of Manila to the transacting public, a free concert was rendered by the InnerVoices, which counts among its band members Atty. Rey Roland Bergado, Chief of the Miscellaneous Manufacturing Bonded Warehouse Division.   Thus, last 11 December 2017 at the POM lobby POM Stakeholders were regaled with popular dance songs.

POM’s Status Verification System (SVS)

 

The 3rd SVS kiosk was downloaded with the POM screensaver Parts I and II (see also write-up belown on POM Screensaver).

The POM Screensaver Part I is currently undergoing enhancements transforming it as the Port of Manila’s Year-End video.

 

GREEN LIGHT: POM Emergency Preparedness Programs

 

As part of the “Green Light: POM Emergency Preparedness Programs”, POM Screensaver Part II, an instructional video in the event of emergencies (e.g. earthquake, fire, inclement weather, emergency telephone numbers) is already on test broadcast and has been downloaded in one of the three SVS kiosks(ie. The one located at the back door of the FED-Social Hall).

 

GREEN THUMB: POM’s Environmental Initiative

 

As an ongoing project, additional flowering plants were introduced at the POM gardens.

Holy Masses were celebrated at the POM lobby on 13 and 15 December 2017.

The POM Facebook site was updated with new posts on the following:

 

–      The surprise Christmas gift by POM to the transacting public – a free concert by the “InnerVoices”.
