For the 3rd week of May, the Legazpi Port recorded one (1) formal entry in progress the subject of alert order since last week which was 6,099 MT of Portland Cement consigned to Sunwest Construction and Development Corp and one (1) formal completed entry of 6,280 MT of Synthetic Gypsum consigned to Goodfound Cement. The port also recorded one (1) export entry of Gold Dore and three (3) informal entries one from Pan Century and two from Postal Naga. These totaled to nine (9) entries for the week May 15-19, 2017.
This is an eventful week for the Bureau of Customs, Port of Legazpi, because the Port commemorated its 145th Founding Anniversary. This was celebrated through a simple lunch shared by Customs Bicol Personnel and other clients after the thanks-giving mass held at Legazpi Customshouse. There was also the awarding of top revenue contributors of Collection District V and recognition of valued partners and stakeholders.
Instead of having a grand funding anniversary celebration, Customs Bicol opted to conduct simultaneous outreach program on May 18, 2017 from 1PM to 5PM through Gift-Giving of school supplies for three (3) Public Elementary Schools within Albay Province, the Legazpi Port Elementary School in Legazpi City, San Isidro Elementary School and Basud Elementary School in Malilipot, Albay. The school supplies are consist of 8 notebooks, a pad paper, scissor, eraser, 2 pencils, and sharpener and hygiene kit of toothbrush, toothpaste and soap for each envelope.
Port of Legazpi manage to produce 120 envelopes, distributed to 120 most needy grade school pupils selected by their school principals, coming from the supposed to be budget for the Anniversary Celebration. The Port chose to help the elementary students especially now that the opening classes are near, to lessen problems that needy families face in sending their children to school.
The Port also joined the nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2017 held by DepED coinciding with the Anniversary activity of the Customs Bicol. Together with all Customs Legazpi Personnel headed by Actg. District Collector Divina B. Garrido, the Port donated 16 liters of Paint and painting materials which reapinted the 2 classroom walls, ceilings, chalkboards, and desks in San Isidro National High School in Malilipot, Albay and Legazpi Port Elementary School in Legazpi City.
