1 On January 30, 2019, Bureau of Customs- Collection District V, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Region V, deployed two (2) K-9 dogs at MV “PHC Maritime” at the Sub-port of Tabaco to conduct inspection of National Food Authority’s (NFA) rice shipment from Vietnam.

Brief Narrative (January 28- February 1, 2019)

For the period January 28- February 1, 2019, Bureau of Customs, Port of Legazpi, had recorded a total of four (4) entries, two (2) of which are completed entries that contributed to the total duties and taxes of Php27,736,807.00 for the month of January, to wit:
Three (3) formal entries consigned to –
National food authority with a shipment of 8,250.550MT of Rice via MV PHC Maritime
National Food Authority with a shipment of 3,750MT of Rice via MV Star 126
DMCI Masbate Corporation with a shipment of 267 packages of Boiler Parts/Beam via MV Spring Mota
There was also one (1) informal entry processed at Postal Naga assessed in the amount of Php9,103.00.

Significant Events/Activities:
January 30, 2019: Bureau of Customs- Collection District V, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Region V, deployed two (2) K-9 dogs at MV “PHC Maritime” at the Sub-port of Tabaco to conduct inspection of National Food Authority’s (NFA) rice shipment from Vietnam being discharged from the vessel for delivery to its warehouse.
This is in compliance to the Memorandum of the Commissioner dated December 19, 2018, regarding the deployment of K-9 dogs in the inspection of goods in sacks or bags such as rice, grains, sugar, cement or any other similar goods in order to intensify the bureau’s war on drugs.
The physical inspection and examination was headed by SP/LT Reynald R. Ruda, ESS District Commander
