The Bureau of Customs and the Port of NAIA on February 10, 2022 received Plaques of Recognition from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for the remarkable achievement having conducted a total of 57 drug interceptions amounting to P122.70-Million in 2021.
In the PDEA New Year’s Call event with the theme “NAIA-IADITG: DYNAMIC amidst PANDEMIC, COUNTRY ABOVE ALL, Bureau of Customs and the Port of NAIA were recognized for the outstanding performance and contributions on anti-llegal drug operations of the NAIA-IADITG.
Over the years, the Bureau of Customs – Port of NAIA continue to perform in partnership with NAIA-IATG in intercepting illegal drugs in the borders. As of record, there were 31 drug-related busts in 2019, 43 drug busts in 2020, and 57 drug busts in 2021.
During the event, PDEA also recognized and awarded several customs personnel, examiners and enforcement team of Port of NAIA and other agency partners for the notable achievements, contributions, and role in the seizure of illegal drugs.
Among the attendees in the recognition event were PDEA Director III Christian Frivaldo, Regional Director, Regional Office-NCR and IA III Gerald Javier, Deputy Task Group Commander, and recipients of the same recognition, Manila International Airport Authority, US Drug Enforcement Agency and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The Bureau of Customs under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero and Port of NAIA remain committed in intensifying its security and enforcement measures, as part of the agency’s anti-smuggling campaign as BOC continue to coordinate with partner agencies.
