P660,000 WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS IN PARCELS INTERCEPTED BY CUSTOMS NAIA

As part of the Bureau of Customs mandate to secure the country’s border against the import and export of illegal contraband, the Port of NAIA intercepted 71.6 grams of shabu and 97 tablets of valium in various outbound parcels with an estimated street value of P660,000 at DHL warehouse in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and NAIA Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).

Six different packages from different consignees were targeted for profiling and subjected to x-ray and physical examination.

Five of the Six packages contained white crystalline substances in sachets while one contained valium concealed in books, speakers and documents . The parcels were turned over to PDEA for further investigation.

The Bureau remains vigilant in protecting the borders and assures that both import and export transactions are monitored.
