Gov’t agents seize P7.87-M shabu; nab two suspects in Bacoor City

September 28, 2022

A composite team of law enforcers from the Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, together with operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), had seized 1.14 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, with an estimated value of P 7.87-million.

The contraband also resulted in the arrest of two suspects today in Bacoor City, Cavite during a controlled delivery operation.

The illegal drugs were discovered in a shipment which was declared to contain “unsolicited gift-baby soft toys for personal use” which arrived on Sept. 26 from Victoria, London.

The same was marked for physical examination by the assigned X-Ray inspector as it showed a suspicious image.

Physical examination was immediately conducted which resulted in the discovery of two pieces of headdress (hat with design), one piece of letter and one yellow-green plastic bag containing two pieces of Star Wars Mandalorian Plush Toy.

Each of the item holds three blue plastics containing white crystalline powder suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride.

The subject shipment was subjected to K9 sweeping which indicated the possible presence of illegal drugs.

The white crystalline powder underwent field testing by the which yielded a positive result for the presence of “methamphetamine”.

Representative samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis which confirmed that the samples are indeed methamphetamine hydrochloride, a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165.

A warrant of seizure and detention was issued by District Collector Alexandra Lumontad against the subject shipment for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 (f) of the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863 in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Controlled delivery operation was conducted by the joint elements of PDEA & BOC-Port of Clark on Sept. 27 in Bacoor City, Cavite which led to the arrest of two claimants.

The BOC, under the leadership of Commissioner Yogi Filemon L. Ruiz, will remain consistent in upholding the Bureau’s mission to protect the country’s borders against illegal drug importation.
