November 25, 2024

As part of his continuous efforts to ensure the Bureau of Customs (BOC) delivers transparent, efficient, and modernized service, Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio visited the Kalibo International Airport, a subport of the Port of Iloilo, on November 21, 2024. The visit was followed by the BOC’s regular Collectors’ Conference, hosted by the Port of Iloilo under the leadership of District Collector Ciriaco D.G. Ugay.

Accompanied by Port of Iloilo District Collector Ciriaco D.G. Ugay, Commissioner Rubio met with subport officials and commended their efforts, particularly the successful implementation of the eTravel system at Kalibo International Airport and Boracay Airport. He expressed hope that the high standards of service demonstrated during the system’s pilot phase would continue.

He also highlighted the impressive performance of the Kalibo International Airport in revenue collection, noting that the airport had surpassed its target collection by 232.79%.

“I also commend the Kalibo International Airport for collecting a total of 6.820 Million Pesos in revenue from January to November 14, 2024, surpassing the Port’s target collection of 2.930 Million by 232.79%. Maliit na puerto, kakaunti ang mga empleyado, pero paniguradong malayong malayo ang mararating ng mga buwis na inyong nakolekta para sa ating bayan,” Commissioner Rubio emphasized.

The Commissioner expressed his full trust in the leadership of District Collector Ugay, Sub-port Collector Melisa P. Andana, and the entire team at Kalibo International Airport. He urged them to remain inspired by their important role in shaping the nation’s future, especially as the year draws to a close.

The Commissioner also took the opportunity to personally thank the dedicated personnel at Kalibo International Airport, recognizing their hard work and sacrifices.

Following his visit to the Kalibo International Airport, Commissioner Rubio chaired the Collectors’ Conference. During which, Officials and District Collectors discussed the BOC’s performance in meeting its mandates, including revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border security. He emphasized the need for continued focus and cooperation in achieving the BOC’s targets for the remainder of the year.

During the meeting, Commissioner Rubio also recognized the efforts of all Collection Districts for their commitment to achieving the Bureau’s much-needed revenue targets. He emphasized that the contributions from all collection districts are crucial in funding government projects, including relief and rehabilitation efforts for those affected by recent typhoons and calamities.

As the BOC moves towards year-end, Commissioner Rubio remains committed to ensuring the continued success of its operations, with a focus on employee morale, efficient processes, and transparent service delivery.
