In pursuit of transforming and reforming the Bureau of Customs, its processes and services, the BOC enrolled to the 4-Stage Performance Governance System (PGS) of the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) in 2019. After two and a half years, the bureau today, April 20, 2022, led by Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, passed the Institutionalization Stage or the fourth and final stage of the PGS Pathway with a GOLD Governance Trailblazer Award, the highest PGS award.
In line with the agency’s mandate of protecting the country’s borders against the entry of illicit goods, the Bureau of Customs-Port of Subic condemned assorted brands of counterfeit cigarettes with an estimated market value of Php 38 million on April 19, 2022.

To consistently intensify its border protection capabilities against the entry of illegal drugs, the Bureau of Customs, through the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), launches 16 units of Trace Detection System (TDS) which shall be deployed in various ports nationwide from April to May 2022.
During the 3rd day of the National Trade Facilitation Workshop on April 4-6, 2022, which was co-organized by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in cooperation with the ARISE Plus Philippines Project, discussions with the Philippine Trade Regulatory Government Agencies (TRGAs) and private stakeholders on the implementation of the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) were conducted.
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) celebrates another milestone as it inaugurates the Customs Training Institute (CTI) facility on 13 April 2022, located at 2nd floor, Citadel Building, 21st Street, Port Area, Manila.
Through the collective efforts of the Bureau’s Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS), Port of Cagayan de Oro, and Port of Subic, two (2) criminal complaints were filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against the importers and the customs broker of alleged smuggled cigarettes and assorted goods amounting to P32 million.
Aligned with its thrust to curb illicit trade and collect rightful duties and taxes for the government, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has marked 4.724-Billion liters of equivalent to P60.15 billion duties and taxes for the 1st quarter of 2022. With this, the total marked gasoline, diesel, and kerosene from September 2019 to March 2022 were 39.316 billion liters equivalent to P374.13 billion in duties and taxes.
