The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has received reports about a new scam in which individuals impersonate the Commissioner of Customs on WhatsApp to extort payments. These scammers pose as the Commissioner, misleading individuals into thinking they are engaging in legitimate transactions and soliciting payments for customs-related services.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) recorded a preliminary actual collection performance of PhP784.54 billion from January to October 2024. This amount marks a robust 6% increase compared to the same period last year, resulting in an additional PhP44.445 billion over the PhP740.095 billion collected in 2023.

In its ongoing campaign against illicit cigarettes, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Cagayan de Oro, under the leadership of District Collector Arthur G. Sevilla, Jr., issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) on November 4, 2024, against 10,750 reams of undocumented cigarettes discovered in an abandoned 1×10’ container van onboard a ten-wheeler truck in Brgy. Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City, on October 24, 2024.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Clark seized 472 grams of high-grade “Kush” marijuana valued at PhP708,000, concealed under the declaration “Mens Vintage Threads Jean Straight Leg Fit (30/34) Girls.” The physical examination was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group, National Bureau of Investigation Pampanga District Office, Department of Justice, and Barangay Dau officials in Mabalacat City.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) hosted a study visit on October 28, 2024 to October 30, 2024, for delegates from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and customs officials from Southeast Asia, aimed at bolstering strategies in hazardous waste management. The visit, conducted under the Passenger and Cargo Control Programme (PCCP) of the UNODC, took place at the Port of Manila (POM) and the Manila International Container Port (MICP).
