Bureau of Customs – Port of Subic Maintains Momentum in Hitting target

The Port of Subic has already surpassed its assigned annual target for the year 2019. Nonetheless, the Port has maintained its momentum by consistently surpassing its Collection Target for the past ten consecutive months. To date, the Port of Subic has cumulatively collected a total of Php 27,382,244,614.88. The collection equated to an increase 37.56% or Php 7,475,895,967.18 higher than its collection target covering the period of January – October 31, 2019. The Port also collected the total amount of Php 9,358,895,731.01 or an improvement of 51.9% as compared to the same period last year.

The Port of Subic has also maintained a balance between facilitating trade and maintaining enforcement and border protection. Anti-smuggling efforts, resulted to the seizure of goods ranging from Sugars, Motor Vehicles, Firecrackers and Contaminated Meat Products among others which has amounted to an estimate of Php 92,291,319.93 in value of seized goods.

Recognition was also given by the port to other government agencies such as the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Quarantine Services under BAI, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Sugar Regulatory Agency (SRA) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in their cooperation and assistance in maintaining border security.

In a statement District Collector Maritess T. Martin stated that the Port of Subic will continuously protect the borders, pursue reforms and ensure Ease of Doing Business which focuses on delivering fast and efficient service to Stakeholders. The Port chief also recognized the guidance of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero that equated to the success of the port.

Collector Martin also applauded the dedication of the men and women of the Port of Subic stating that “Service is in the Heart of the Port of Subic”. The Collector assured that the port is not slowing down and would continue to exert utmost effort in raising more revenue to support government initiatives in nation building.
