BOC: Sub-Port of Mindanao Container Terminal Unveils New Facility, Bolsters Regional Revenue Contribution

August 25, 2023

The Bureau of Customs (BOC), Sub-Port of Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) unveils its new building at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, on August 22, 2023. With the new facility, MCT Subport aims to increase its revenue contribution as well as improve its services to stakeholders.

BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio led the Ribbon Cutting and Blessing of the new building, which will house essential BOC frontline offices in MCT, including Customer Care Center, Sub-port Collector’s Office, Assessment Division, Operations Division, Export Division, Piers and Inspection Division, and other key departments.

In his speech, Commissioner Rubio acknowledged the significant contribution of the Sub-Port of Mindanao Container Terminal, which accounts for more than 51% of the overall revenue collection of Collection District X. He also commended the men and women of the Port of Cagayan de Oro led by Coll. Alexandra Y. Lumontad for their unwavering dedication in fulfilling the Bureau’s mandates: revenue collection, trade facilitation and border protection.

The Phivedic Industrial Authority (PIA) also re-affirmed its active partnership with the Bureau of Customs thru the donation of the 5,000 square meters of lot within the Phividec Industrial Estate through a Usufruct Agreement. With Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental as gateways, the BOC has reinforced its position to cater to the growing economy of Northern Mindanao.

“May it inspire you to reach greater heights, and may the bonds formed within these walls become a source of strength for the years to come,” said Atty. Joseph Donato J. Bernedo, Administrator and CEO of Phividec Industrial Authority.

District Collector Alexandra Y. Lumontad remarked that the new building unquestionably uplifted morale of Sub-Port of MCT personnel thru timely enhancement of their present working environment.

“This will inspire them to work beyond the call of duty to maximize revenue collection, streamline customs processes, and prevent smuggling and other forms of fraud,” said District Collector Lumontad.
