BOC Showcases Enforcement Capabilities in ADAS 2022

The Bureau of Customs, through the Enforcement and Security Service, together with the Public Information and Assistance Division, General Services Division, Port of Manila-Customer Care Center, Accounting Division, and Budget Division, participated in the Asian Defense & Security (ADAS) 2022, the 4th Asian Defense and Security, Crisis & Disaster Management Exhibition and Conference in the World Trade Center, Metro Manila on April 27-29, 2022.

The ADAS Series is the Philippines’ flagship defense and security event where various international and national defense and security agencies meet participating exhibitors in the show to fully evaluate their ongoing modernization and upgrading requirements. It is also a platform to introduce the current assets and capabilities of the participating agencies.

In the 3-day event, BOC showcased its wide array of enforcement assets. Among the equipment displayed were the Fast Patrol Boats used in boarding formalities, patrol, and water pursuits within the nation’s borders.

Latest model Body-worn Cameras, Backscatter handheld inspection device used in container inspection, the GETAC K120 Fully Rugged Tablet, and the BWC Docking Stations where the recorded data in the cameras can be automatically transferred, were also presented.

An addition to the exhibit was the Rigaku Raman Progency Resq Chemical Identifier which enables customs officers to perform rapid identification of chemicals, precursors, and explosives in shipments.

BOC also flaunted its new Handheld Backscatter X-Ray Imager donated by the World Customs Organization. It is used by customs officers in non-intrusive inspection to detect hidden threats quickly and easily in shipments.

Moreover, the Compact Fitness Sorter and Multi-Currency Counter, a cost-effective and low-noise equipment that uses multi-detection technology to count and sort banknotes with high precision and speed, was among the assets displayed.

The Trace Detection System which enables users to instantly detect explosives and drugs sampled from cargoes with at least 3x throughput than conventional systems was also showcased.

Likewise, the BOC Self-Service Kiosk where the stakeholders can easily follow up their transactions with the Bureau and avail other BOC processes was also exhibited.

With its recent victory in passing the Institutionalization Stage or the fourth and final stage of the Performance Governance System Pathway, BOC also paraded its four Gold Trailblazer Awards, making history in attaining the highest award in all four stages.

BOC under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero has significantly propelled its capabilities in fulfilling its mandates of border protection, revenue collection, and trade facilitation. BOC assures the public that it will continue to equip and modernize the agency toward its vision of becoming a customs administration that is among the world’s best.
