June 1, 2024

The International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) paid tribute to several government agencies for their exceptional dedication and service during the COVID-19 pandemic. This heartfelt recognition extends to various government agencies, including the BOC, for their tireless efforts in supporting the nation’s battle against the virus.

Amidst the crisis, the BOC emerged as the government’s frontline in the supply chain of essential goods. Throughout the pandemic, the bureau ensured uninterrupted delivery of vital services, guaranteeing the seamless flow of goods crucial for the nation’s well-being. Notably, the BOC’s role in efficiently processing and releasing COVID-19 vaccines, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and other primary commodities significantly contributed in promoting and safeguarding public health.

In recognition of these significant contributions, the IFRC and PRC commended the BOC for its crucial cooperation in pandemic initiatives. Director Bienvenido R. Datuin Jr., representing the BOC, accepted the award presented by IFRC President Kate Forbes and PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon on May 30, 2024, during the Appreciation Event and Awarding Ceremony for PRC COVID-19 Response Partners held in Makati. The citation underscored the BOC’s pivotal role in the PRC’s extensive pandemic response and humanitarian efforts, ensuring the delivery of vital assistance to the Filipino people.

Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio expressed profound gratitude to the men and women of the BOC for their remarkable resilience and dedication amidst adversity. He reaffirmed the BOC’s continuous support for national endeavors, serving as a pillar of strength and fortitude in times of crisis.

During the awarding of government agencies, the IFRC highlighted its slogan, “Trust, Equity, and Local Action,” emphasizing trust in fellow countrymen, fairness, and the proactive efforts of local government units and agencies like the BOC, which the organization deeply appreciates. The IFRC also acknowledged and commended the PRC’s working mantra, “ALWAYS FIRST, ALWAYS READY, ALWAYS THERE,” reflecting its unwavering commitment and urgency during the pandemic.
