BOC-Port of Limay Seized Lorry Truck Carrying Unmarked Diesel Fuel

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Limay, through the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), successfully seized one (1) lorry truck and one (1) trailer containing 40 kiloliters of diesel on May 21, 2023 at Seafront Shipyard and Port Terminal Services Corporation in Barangay Lucanin, Mariveles, Bataan.

The seized diesel was reportedly intended for loading to vessels Meridian Cinco and MV Seaborne Cargo 7 which are currently undergoing repair services at the said shipyard. Based on the documents obtained, it was revealed that the subject 40 kiloliters of diesel came from Cabtuan, Isabela.

Representatives from Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) took samples of the diesel and conducted fuel marking testing to determine the presence of a fuel marker. The test yielded an initial result of 0% presence of fuel marker. A confirmatory test was also conducted on the samples taken which confirmed the 0% presence of the fuel marker.

As a result, District Collector Alexandra Y. Lumontad issued Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the seized lorry truck and trailer including the unmarked diesel for violation Sections 113 (a), (f), (k) and (I.1) of Republic Act No. 10863 otherwise known as the “Customs Modernization and Tariff Act” and DOF-BOC-BIR Joint Circular 001-2021.

The Port of Limay, under the guidance of Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, will remain committed to further strengthen its anti-smuggling and border control operations to ensure that petroleum products which have not paid duties and taxes will not proliferate in our domestic market.#
