As part of The Bureau of Customs (BOC) aim to enhance the examination capabilities of the agency, the Port of Legazpi conducted a site visit of the Masbate Gold Project (MGP) facility on 19 November 2019, a mining site located at Aroroy, Masbate.
The activity was led by Port of Legazpi Acting District Collector Alexander M. Go and was aimed to support the enhancement of cargo clearance and examination capabilities as well as train and orient newly hired trade control examiners of their duties and responsibilities.
MGP is considered the highest exporter of gold dore in the Philippines which started gold production in 2009. The facility is jointly operated by Filiminera Resources Corporation and Philippine Gold Processing and Refining Corporation.
In his statement Collector Go expressed his determination to observe and experience the different day to day operations of the Port. He further stated that he wanted to ensure that the personnel on duty are safe and well taken care when conducting inspections and that the activity is in line with the 10-point priority program of Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero to further improve trade facilitation.
