Joint elements of the Manila International Container Port-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service Field Station (MICP-CIIS) of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-National Capital Region (PDEA-NCR), and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized an estimated 50 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu on 23 March 2022 in Quezon City.
An intelligence report received relative to the illegal drug activities prompted the conduct of the drug interdiction operations. The total estimated value of the seized illegal drugs amounted to Php 340,000,000.00.
The suspect and seized drugs were turned over to PDEA for custodial investigation and inquest for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act and Section 118 of RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
BOC under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero assures the public that it will continue strong coordination with other government agencies to protect the country’s borders against the entry of illegal drugs.
