The Bureau of Customs, through the Manila International Container Port-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (MICP-CIIS) and Enforcement and Security Service (MICP-ESS), together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) inspected a warehouse in Valenzuela City for suspected smuggled goods on May 13, 2022.
Armed with a Letter of Authority and Mission Order issued by the Commissioner of Customs, the implementing team proceeded to the inspection of the said warehouse.
The inspection revealed the presence of imported Christmas decors, motorcycle scooters, resins, granite tiles, among other things. The goods found are estimated to be worth Php 68 million.
Failure by the owner or possessor of the goods to produce evidence of payment and pertinent importation documents for the subject goods shall cause seizure and forfeiture of the imported goods under Section 224 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
