The Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), intercepted six inbound parcels containing kush, a high-grade variant of marijuana, with an estimated street value of PHP2,253,800.
The parcels, consigned to different recipients, were flagged during inspection operations at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City. Subsequent physical examination revealed a total of 1,502 grams of kush concealed within the shipments.
The confiscated items have been turned over to PDEA for further investigation and case build-up. Individuals linked to the shipments will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to the national government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, pursuant to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen border security and prevent the entry of illegal drugs, stressing that the Bureau remains steadfast in intercepting all forms of contraband at the country’s ports of entry.
Under the leadership of District Collector Alexandra Y. Lumontad, BOC-NAIA continues to implement stringent border protection measures to safeguard the country against the entry of illegal substances and other prohibited goods. #
