BOC-NAIA Seizes PhP1.5 million Worth of Shabu

November 20, 2024

The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), intercepted a parcel containing Methamphetamine Hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” valued at PhP1.564 million on November 13, 2024, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The parcel, shipped from California and addressed to a recipient in Taguig City, was flagged during a routine inspection and found to contain 230 grams of illegal drugs.

The seized drugs were turned over to PDEA and further investigation will be conducted for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasized the agency’s commitment in combating drug trafficking, stating, “This interception is a product of the heightened security measures of the Bureau to protect our borders against any attempt to import illegal drugs.”

District Collector Yasmin O. Mapa reaffirmed BOC-NAIA’s relentless efforts to prevent the entry of illicit goods into the country. #
