As part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) strengthened anti-illegal drug campaign, the BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), intercepted parcels containing kush, a high-grade marijuana, and ecstasy tablets with a total estimated street value of PhP12,996,700 on December 5, 2024, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The parcels, shipped from different countries and addressed to various recipients in the Philippines, were flagged during a routine inspection and found to contain 7,791 grams of kush and 1,229 pieces of ecstasy tablets.

The seized drugs were turned over to PDEA, and further investigation is underway for violations of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio highlighted the agency’s vigilance, saying, “This successful operation underscores the Bureau’s efforts in fortifying border security and curbing the smuggling of illegal drugs.”

District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa affirmed the commitment of the BOC-NAIA to remain steadfast in its mission to intercept contraband and uphold the safety and well-being of our nation.
