The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), successfully intercepted a parcel containing kush, a high-grade marijuana, valued at PhP1.4 million on December 10, 2024, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.
The shipment, declared as “clothes,” originated from Thailand. Rigorous profiling by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), x-ray screening by the X-Ray Inspection Project (XIP), K9 inspection, and physical examination led to the discovery of 1,002 grams of kush with an estimated street value of PhP1,402,800.
The arrested consignee and the confiscated illegal drugs were turned over to PDEA for inquest proceedings for violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).
“This operation highlights the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in protecting our nation from the threat of illegal drugs,” said Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasizing the agency’s commitment to combat the smuggling of illegal drugs.
The BOC-NAIA, led by District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, continues its efforts to secure the country’s borders and prevent the smuggling of illegal substances that endanger public safety. #
