BOC Davao (Sub-port of Dadiangas), PNP Seize PHP 6.3M Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes

The Bureau of Customs-Port of Davao, through its Sub-port in Dadiangas, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Municipal Police Station, Makilala North Cotabato intercepted 12,500 reams of illicit cigarettes loaded on an Isuzu Fuso Fighter truck on November 15, 2021.

The seized cigarettes were taken into custody by the Port’s Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) and the five (5) suspects were temporarily withheld at Makilala Municipal Police Station for filing of appropriate charges.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was already issued against the smuggled items for violation of Section 1113 in relation to Section 117 and Section 1400 of Republic Act No. 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

BOC Davao led by District Collector Atty. Erastus Sandino B. Austria continues to strengthen ties with partner agencies for the proper enforcement of customs laws.
