BOC Conducts Audit of All Customs Accredited Condemnation Facilities in the Philippines

August 31, 2023

The Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group (AOCG), through the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Vener S. Baquiran, directed the conduct of 100% audit of all BOC-accredited condemnation facilities in the Philippines.

“Ensuring the integrity and compliance of our accredited condemnation facilities is crucial in maintaining transparency and accountability of our operations”, Deputy Commissioner Baquiran stressed.

Customs Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 07-2023, which amended CMO No. 24-2021, requires that all applications for accreditation of service contractors shall be approved by the Deputy Commissioner, AOCG. This is to ensure that all existing accredited condemnation facilities are compliant with CMO No. 24-2021, which prescribes the guidelines for the disposal of forfeited commodities through condemnation.

According to Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, “This audit reflects our commitment in upholding the highest standards of our operations and maintaining public trust with the Bureau.”

Pursuant to Section 7.2 of CMO No. 24-2021, as amended, the Port Operations Service (POS), through the Auction and Cargo Disposal Monitoring Division (ACDMD), has audited thirty-eight (38) facilities, comprising 100% of the BOC-accredited condemnation facilities all over the Philippines.
