March 1, 2025

Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio was recognized as one of Asia’s most influential leaders at Asia’s Golden Icon Leader Award 2025 ceremony, honoring his exemplary leadership in customs administration.

The Asia’s Golden Icon Leader Award celebrates outstanding leaders and councils for their excellence, vision, and impact, highlighting individuals who inspire change and shape the future. Commissioner Rubio’s leadership has been instrumental in driving customs reforms, enhancing trade processes, and bolstering border security in the Philippines.

Commissioner Rubio attended the event on February 28 in Manila, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Clarence Dizon and Collector Marlon Agaceta.

In his acceptance speech, Commissioner Rubio dedicated the award to the BOC’s hardworking men and women.

“I am very much honored to receive this award not just for me but for the men and women of the Bureau of Customs. It is a testament to the hard work and the contributions of the Bureau of Customs to our country,” he said.

In 2024, under Commissioner Rubio’s leadership and aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas vision, the BOC achieved significant milestones. Through intensified digitalization, policy reforms, and enhanced enforcement strategies, the Bureau delivered record-breaking revenue performance, streamlined trade facilitation, and launched aggressive anti-smuggling campaigns, reinforcing its critical role in boosting the economy and protecting national interests.

Looking ahead, the BOC remains committed to advancing innovation, transparency, and collaboration to sustain these achievements and uphold its dedication to public service.
