BOC-Clark turns over P11.274M worth of Shabu to PDEA

December 28, 2022

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Clark turned over 1,634 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated value of P11.274 million to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on December 27.

Customs personnel discovered the illegal drugs in a shipment declared to contain shoes that arrived on November 17 from Kempton Park, South Africa.

Customs employees conducted an x-ray inspection and PDEA K-9 sweeping, to confirm the possible presence of illegal drugs.

Found were transparent packs of white crystalline substances wrapped in black duct tape and concealed inside the lining of five handbags.

Samples were taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis which confirmed the substance as shabu, a dangerous drug under the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Collector John Simon issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the shipment for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 par. f, i & l (3 & 4) of R.A. No. 10863 in relation to R.A. No. 9165.

Port Collector Simon said vigilance among personnel and strong coordination with PDEA significantly improved the port’s drug seizures and apprehensions.

Simon said that port employees continue to intensify the implementation of strict border protection measures.

The BOC, under the leadership of Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz, commits to remain vigilant and will further reinforce its anti-illegal drugs campaign as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.#
