BOC-Clark Seizes PhP708K Worth of High-Grade “Kush” Marijuana Concealed in Garments

November 10, 2024

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Clark seized 472 grams of high-grade “Kush” marijuana valued at PhP708,000, concealed under the declaration “Mens Vintage Threads Jean Straight Leg Fit (30/34) Girls.” The physical examination was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group, National Bureau of Investigation Pampanga District Office, Department of Justice, and Barangay Dau officials in Mabalacat City.
The shipment, which arrived on October 25, 2024, was flagged by the BOC’s X-ray Inspection Project after unusual images were detected. A K-9 unit further indicated the presence of illegal substances. Upon physical examination, authorities found two (2) pieces of black and transparent plastic pouch containing two (2) pieces of plastic wrapped with yellow-orange jelly-like textures suspected to be marijuana derivatives, and one (1) piece of transparent plastic couch containing 472 grams of fruiting tops suspected to be high-grade marijuana.

Samples were taken and sent to PDEA for chemical analysis, confirming the substances as tetrahydrocannabinol and marijuana (Kush), classified as a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165, as amended.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued against the shipment for violating Sections 118(g), 119(d), and 1113 paragraphs (f), (i), and (l) (3 and 4) of R.A. No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), in relation to R.A. No. 9165.

As mandated by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the BOC, led by Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, remains committed to combating illegal drug smuggling. Commissioner Rubio affirmed, “The BOC pledges to prevent smuggling and protect the country’s borders and our citizens’ well-being from the threats posed by illegal substances attempting to infiltrate our communities.”
