BOC-Clark Nabs Claimant of P324K Worth of Shabu in Masantol, Pampanga

February 28, 2023

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) apprehended the claimant of a shipment containing 47 grams of Shabu worth P324,000.00 last February 23 in Masantol, Pampanga.

The BOC personnel discovered the illegal drugs during a routine examination conducted on February 21 of a shipment from California, USA, declared to contain photographs.

Authorities subjected the shipment to K9 sniffing, x-ray scanning, and physical examination procedures and found three white envelopes containing white crystalline substances suspected to be Shabu.

Samples were taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis, which confirmed the presence of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or Shabu, a dangerous drug under the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Joint elements of the Port of Clark and PDEA then conducted a controlled delivery operation to the consignee’s address in Masantol Pampanga and arrested the claimant.

Head of the BOC Port of Clark, District Collector John Simon, commended the partnership and efficient coordination between the BOC and the PDEA in apprehending drug traffickers.

District Collector Simon added that the Port of Clark continues reinforcing its capabilities in curbing contraband smuggling.

“The recent seizures and arrests of claimants by the BOC are results of our intensified anti-smuggling campaign,” Says Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio.

“We remain committed in achieving the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to curb all forms of smuggling in the country,” he added.#
