The Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, in close coordination with PDEA, CAIDTF, ESS, XIP and CIIS, seized 4,976 pcs. of Ecstasy or “Party Drugs” with an estimated value of Php 8.5-million last December 6, 2021 and arrested the claimant in Las Pinas City in a controlled delivery operations on December 7, 2021.
Through the intensified anti-illegal drug effort of the Port and reinforced collaboration with PDEA, a shipment from Brussels, Belgium declared as “Lamp” was closely monitored and upon arrival, was subjected to x-ray scanning which showed images of possible presence of illegal drugs concealed inside the lining of the corrugated box. The subject shipment was likewise subjected to K9 sweeping which also gave positive indications. Thereafter, physical examination was conducted which resulted to the findings of one (1) pc. lamp with six (6) transparent plastic pouches inside covered with carbon film containing 4,976 pcs. of pink and gray colored tablets suspected to be Ecstasy.
To confirm, representative samples were turned over to PDEA for the conduct of chemical laboratory analysis which confirmed that the subject substance was indeed Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) or Ecstasy, a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165.
District Collector Alexandra Lumontad issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the subject shipment for violation of Sections 1400, 118 (g), 119 (d) and 1113 par. f, i & l (3 & 4) of R.A. 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) in relation to R.A. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
On December 7, 2021, a controlled delivery operation was conducted by the joint elements of PDEA, CAIDTF, ESS & CIIS to the consignee’s address at Las Pinas City which resulted to the arrest of the claimant.
The subject illegal drugs will be turned over to PDEA for proper disposition and the claimant will be subjected to inquest proceedings.
Based from records, this is the seventh major drug apprehension of the Port of Clark for 2021 and to date, the Port of Clark has seized Php 53.5-million worth of illegal drugs.
The Port of Clark, with the strengthened coordination with PDEA, will continue to reinforce the anti-illegal drug campaign of the Bureau of Customs under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero and in support of the President’s war on drugs.
