BOC-Clark, CAIDTF, ESS, CIIS, XIP, PDEA seize Php328K worth of Kush Marijuana, arrest 2 Claimants in Muntinlupa

May 5, 2022

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark, together with the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), Enforcement & Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), X-ray Inspection Project (XIP), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), recorded another successful drug bust of 253 grams of Kush Marijuana with an estimated value of Php 328,900.00 and arrested two (2) claimants in a controlled delivery operations in Muntinlupa City.

The BOC uncovered the said drugs in a shipment from Nashville, Tennessee, USA, which arrived on April 22, 2022. The subject shipment, said to contain “Tea French Press, made Out of Tree Leaves” was subjected to x-ray scanning, which revealed images of organic substances. The BOC conducted a 100% physical examination on the subject shipment that resulted to the findings of two (2) packs of green leaves suspected to be Marijuana.

The CAIDTF conducted K9 sweeping and a field testing, which yielded positive result for the presence of Marijuana. Representative samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis. The results of the analysis confirmed that said leaves are indeed Kush (Cannabis) strains containing Tetrahydrocannabinol/Marijuana.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was immediately issued by District Collector Alexandra Lumontad against the subject shipment for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 (f) of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863 in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Joint elements of BOC & PDEA conducted a controlled delivery operation last May 2, 2022 to the consignee’s address in Muntinlupa City which resulted in the arrest of two (2) claimants.

The Port of Clark, with the continuous partnership with PDEA, will further reinforce the anti-illegal drug campaign of the Bureau of Customs led by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero and mandated by President Rodrigo Duterte.
