BOC-Clark Busts Claimant of Eight (8) Canisters Containing Kush Marijuana

The Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, in coordination with the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), Enforcement & Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) & Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), uncovered 35 grams of Kush Marijuana with an estimated value of Php52,500.00 inside eight (8) canisters and arrested its claimant on Sept.13 in Malabon City.

The shipment from Pennsylvania, USA, said to contain “goodies” was subjected to x-ray scanning which showed suspicious images.

K9 sweeping also indicated the possible presence of illegal drugs.

Physical examination was then conducted which resulted in the discovery of eight (8) canisters containing dried buds and leaves suspected to be illegal drugs.

Representative samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis which confirmed the presence of Tetrahydrocannabinol/ Marijuana, a dangerous drug under Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

District Collector Alexandra Lumontad issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention on Sept. 8 for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 par. f, I & l (3 & 4) of R.A. No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165.

Controlled delivery operations were conducted by the joint elements of PDEA & BOC on Sept. 13 in Malabon City which led to the arrest of one (1) claimant.

The Port of Clark has seized P114 million worth of illegal drugs from January 2022 to date.

The BOC, under the leadership of Commissioner Yogi Filemon L Ruiz, vows to steadfastly carry out the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to stop illegal drug smuggling in the country.
