BOC Achieves Highest Audit Evaluation for Two Consecutive Years

August 7, 2024

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to financial transparency and accountability, achieving an unmodified opinion on its Financial Statements for the second consecutive year. This evaluation was issued by the Commission on Audit (COA), underscoring the BOC’s adherence to the highest standards of financial reporting for the C.Y. 2023.

An unmodified opinion, the highest audit evaluation granted by the COA, signifies that the financial statements are prepared, in all material respects, in accordance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs).

These consecutive recognitions by the COA not only highlight the BOC’s consistent performance but also set a commendable benchmark for other government agencies. It reflect the agency’s proactive measures in strengthening its financial systems, enhancing internal controls, and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.

Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio expressed his gratitude to the BOC-COA Auditors, recognizing their indispensable role in these achievements. “The BOC-COA Auditors have consistently been our partners in driving meaningful change. Their guidance and reminders have reinforced our responsibilities as public servants, emphasizing that we are accountable for public funds and resources,” Rubio stated.

Looking ahead, the BOC is determined to sustain this level of excellence and continue its pursuit of operational and financial improvements. The agency will remain vigilant in its efforts to uphold the highest standards of financial reporting and accountability, ensuring that public funds and resources are managed with the utmost care and responsibility.
