BOC-Clark, NAIA foil smuggling of P13.8M Shabu

January 8, 2023

The Bureau of Customs- Port of Clark and NAIA have foiled an attempt to smuggle into the country P13.8 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) concealed inside sports jugs.

The illegal drugs were discovered in a shipment said to contain “microserver double stairless ceramic,” which arrived on January 2 from Bangkok, Thailand.

The shipment was marked for physical examination as it showed a suspicious image during x-ray scanning.

A physical examination resulted in the discovery of four pieces of a 3-liter stainless sport jug containing white crystalline substances wrapped in plastic and aluminum foil.

Representative samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis, which confirmed the presence of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or commonly known as shabu, a dangerous drug under the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued against the shipment.

The Port of Clark, NAIA, and PDEA conducted a joint delivery operations, which led to the arrest of two claimants in Pasay City.

The BOC, under the leadership of Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz, remains steadfast in its commitment to the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr to be vigilant in its anti-illegal drug measures to prevent the entry of narcotics and other dangerous substances into the country.
