November 1, 2024

The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted a parcel containing PhP10.01 million worth of high-grade marijuana, or “kush,” on October 30, 2024.
A thorough physical examination revealed 7,154 grams of kush concealed within the parcel, with an estimated street value of PhP10,015,600.

The intercepted drugs were handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for further investigation and filing of appropriate charges under Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

The operation was carried out in close coordination with PDEA and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).

BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio expressed the agency’s commitment to national security, stating, “We are intensifying our efforts to prevent illegal drugs from infiltrating our borders. Each successful operation demonstrates our determination to protect the Filipino people.”

Emphasizing BOC-NAIA’s dedication, District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa added, “Our team remains vigilant, working with partners to prevent the trafficking of dangerous substances and uphold the safety of our communities.”
