BOC, DICT, and Partner Agencies join hands for the Enhanced e-Travel System

July 10, 2024

In a significant leap toward digital transformation, the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and other relevant agencies have joined forces to create a more efficient and secure travel experience for all travelers and crew members. This initiative was marked by the Ceremonial Launch of the Enhanced e-Travel System on July 10, 2024.

The enhanced system includes the generation of a single QR code for each passenger that covers the requirements of the Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Immigration, Quarantine, Migrant Workers and Tourism. This allows for a more seamless clearance process, minimizing wait times, and reducing the need for multiple forms and checkpoints.

Another key feature is the seaport/cruise form, which simplifies and accelerates the registration process at seaports and cruise terminals, significantly providing convenience for all travelers.

Since its inception in December 2022, the e-Travel system has been continuously improved. As part of their ongoing efforts, the DICT has collaborated with the BOC and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to establish key features, including the Customs Baggage Declaration Form, Currency Declaration Form, and the Overseas Employment Certificate.

Ultimately, the system benefits multiple stakeholders by streamlining travel processes and easing airport congestion. It advances inter-agency coordination by enabling real-time data sharing and enhancing the monitoring of travel flows. This improved data integration supports national security measures and aids in public health risk management by ensuring timely and accurate information for all relevant authorities.
