BOC NAIA seizes Php 4.5M worth of kush

June 1, 2024

In its continued efforts to strengthen the anti-illegal drug campaign, the Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), seized a parcel containing 323 grams of kush, a high-grade marijuana, with an estimated street value of Php 4,524,800 on May 29, 2024, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

Upon profiling and examination of shipments, the parcel, which was misdeclared as “gift,” was found to contain high-grade marijuana from Toronto, Canada, and consigned to an individual in Quezon City. Field testing conducted by the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF) and PDEA confirmed the substance as kush marijuana.

The consignee will be subjected to further investigation and prosecution for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA No. 9165) in relation to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA No. 10863).

Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio reiterated, “the BOC remains committed in stopping the entry of illegal importation of drugs and other anti-social goods.”

Under the leadership of District Collector Yasmin O. Mapa, the BOC-NAIA will continue to enforce strict measures against the entry of illegal drugs at the borders. #
