In a strong show of unity and shared commitment in moving the nation forward, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the country’s industry leaders convened the first General Assembly of the Customs Industry Consultative and Advisory Council (CICAC) to streamline customs clearance processes, achieve revenue targets, and address industry-specific challenges.

Led by Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, the assembly gathered over 200 key industry leaders and stakeholders across the Philippines, signaling a unified commitment to advance Customs reforms and foster national progress.

During the event held in partnership with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), a Manifesto of Support was signed by leaders and stakeholders from 17 District CICACs, reflecting strong endorsement of BOC’s initiatives.

The unified private sector support is critical in realizing the objectives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.‘s “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign, which aims to bring about transformative progress in the country. The assembly’s success illustrated how collaborative efforts between public and private entities could yield mutually beneficial outcomes.

FFCCCII president Dr. Cecilio K. Pedro, lauded the BOC for spearheading significant reforms, stating, “Institutional changes do not come overnight, but we see that the continued interest and participation of all the members of the CICAC are paving the way for reforms and changes, which are facilitating trade and businesses.”

Dr. Pedro also highlighted BOC’s proactive stance. “We thank the Bureau of Customs for its receptiveness and responsiveness in addressing the issues of each stakeholder.” In a gesture of appreciation, the FFCCCII presented a token of gratitude to BOC, reinforcing their unwavering support.

Commissioner Rubio emphasized the importance of collaboration for an improved customs administration. “We trust that we would be able to guide one another in seizing opportunities for improvement and progress within the customs and trade communities.”

He added that BOC will continuously strive towards responsive and effective customs administration — one that meets the expectations of industries, and protects the interests of the country and the Filipino people

By leveraging on the collective expertise, resources and dedication of both public and private sectors, Commissioner Rubio reaffirmed BOC’s commitment to drive positive change and advancing the nation’s interests. He urged industry leaders to join in this shared mission, forging a path toward the realization of President Marcos’s vision for “Bagong Pilipinas.”

This historic assembly not only set the stage for future collaborations but also marked a significant milestone in the ongoing journey towards a more efficient and transparent customs administration in the Philippines, Rubio added.
