BOC, USAID API Project Collaborate for ACDD Training Session, Enhancing ASEAN Customs Practices

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) recently concluded a highly productive and insightful training session on the ASEAN Customs Declaration Document (ACDD) in collaboration with the USAID ASEAN Policy Implementation (API) Project. The training session brought together officials from the BOC who are responsible in the implementation of the ACDD and the operation of the BOC’s ACDD Management Portal, aiming to enhance customs practices across ASEAN member countries.

During the training session, resource speakers from the USAID API Project briefed the participants on the status of the ACDD implementation, as well as an update on the Philippine initiative and its progress towards the ASEAN Single Window (ASW), providing a broader understanding of international customs standards and effective implementation strategies.

Through the interactive training session, participants from the Management Information System and Technology Group (MISTG), Risk Management Office, Export Coordination Division and Export Divisions from all ports gained valuable knowledge in navigating the BOC’s ACDD Management Portal. Recommendations on how to streamline customs procedures, strengthen security measures, and encourage more exporters to participate in the ACDD implementation were also explored during the session.

Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, as conveyed by MISTG OIC Deputy Commissioner Atty. Kriden Balgomera, expressed his enthusiasm for the training session, stating, “This marks a significant step forward in our pursuit of harmonized customs practices within ASEAN. By leveraging our collective experiences and embracing innovative solutions, we can enhance customs processes, bolster border security, and promote a conducive trade environment for the region.”

The collaboration between the BOC and the USAID API Project underscores their commitment in fortifying customs practices and fostering an optimized trade environment within ASEAN. Through knowledge sharing and the development of innovative solutions, this training session sets the stage for enhanced effectiveness and harmonization of customs practices across ASEAN member countries.
