BOC to serve as Head for NCEN Program Leaders for Asia in 2022

December 22, 2021

The Bureau of Customs (BOC), through the Risk Management Office, has been appointed as the Regional Program Leader for National Customs Network (NCEN) for the Asia-Pacific Region during the election held on December 21, 2021, as part of the activities of the 3rd Regional Meeting of NCEN Program Leaders for Asia, wherein Ms. Jemky Flor Sacar, BOC-PH National Contact Point for NCEN, represented the agency.

BOC shall spearhead the NCEN Programme Activities in the Asia-Pacific and work together with NCEN countries in line with the developments of the said system to address challenges encountered by Customs Administrations.

Earlier this year, the Bureau officially launched the National Customs Enforcement Network (NCEN) System of the World Customs Organization, which aims to efficiently gather credible intelligence information and generate accurate analysis that will significantly contribute to the quality of service that the Bureau of Customs can provide to national and global counterparts.

Since the ceremonial launch last March 26, 2021, up until the present, the BOC has been continuously enhancing risk assessment and profiling through the improvements of various systems, which include the NCEN. To date, 2,920 cases were uploaded in the NCEN database, which are being utilized for analysis of illicit trade and necessary for identifying trends applied in enforcement.
