BRIEFER: 15-20 MAY AT THE POM

In summary, the Port of Manila was able to process a total of around 5,929 Entries – ranging from Transshipment, Warehousing, Export, Formal and Informal – generally for the period of 15 – 20 May 2017, among which 48 Balikbayan boxes were processed.

No warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) was issued by the Law Division. There were no Auction proceedings for said period, however, 9 shipments indicated in the report are scheduled for auction on 31 May 2017.

On 15 May 2017, the POM launched its flagship mantra: “Tapat na Serbisyo sa Tunay na Pagbabago”, the banner of which is prominently displayed, among others, at the POM stage.

On the 18th, POM Officials visited the M/V Superstar Virgo Cruise Ship during the latter’s 12th port call.

In the morning of the 20^th, volunteer POM personnel and contractuals converged and joined hands for a clean-up drive at the POM premises, amptly called “Walis, Linis, Kinis” as part of the POM’s Community Service Programs. Everyone brought their cleaning materials and later on donated them for later use.   POM intends to do this periodically.

In the afternoon, POM hosted an Outreach Program at the Hospicio de San Jose, Manila. Hospicio, as beneficiary, was provided with milk, canned goods, rice, clothes, toys and other items.  The wards of Hospicio, on the other hand, were also regaled with songs of past and present by the BOC Chorale and magic show, aside from the meryenda lovingly prepared by POM volunteers.

“Here in POM, aside from adhering to ‘Tapat na Serbisyo sa Tunay na Pagbabago’ we also perform our other moral obligation to community by showcasing  ‘The Heart of the BO’C” , quoting Atty. Rhea Gregorio, Acting POM Collector.
