The Bureau of Customs, through its Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Port of Manila Field Office (BOC-CIIS-POM), apprehended various goods and ukay-ukay items amounting to an estimated value of Php 500 million in Valenzuela City on March 07, 2022.

Armed with a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the implementing team composed of personnel from the CIIS-Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) inspected the warehouse located at # 2 E. San Andres St., cor. T. Santiago St., Canumay West, Valenzuela City.

The inspection led to the discovery of bales of used clothing, power banks, face masks, wearing apparels bearing the brands: Gucci, Chanel, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton, pipe fittings, carpet rolls, refrigerant 22, caustic soda flakes, Lushika (box of jewelries and watch), among other goods and commodities.

Further investigation and inventory is underway for the possible violations of Section 1114 of RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), and the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

The Bureau of Customs remains committed in preventing the proliferation of smuggled and counterfeit goods as part of the agency’s anti-smuggling campaign.
