The Bureau of Customs (BOC), through the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Intellectual Property Rights Division (CIIS-IPRD), CIIS-Port of Clark, and the Port of Manila (POM), seized IPR-infringing goods with an estimated value of Php129 million on June 09, 2022 in Pampanga.
Armed with Letters of Authority (LOA) issued by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the implementing team composed of personnel from the CIIS-IPRD, CIIS-Port of Clark, BOC-POM, National Bureau of Investigation – National Capital Region, FIMA Legal Consultancy team, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines inspected the warehouses at Golden Sun 999 Industrial Park, Dela Paz, San Simon, Pampanga.
Prior to sealing the subject warehouses, BOC examiners, in the presence of CIIS, Louis Vuitton Brand Representatives, and the AFP operatives, conducted an initial inventory of the goods bearing brand names such as Louis Vuitton, Paul Frank, Adidas, Hello Kitty, Spider Man, among others. Assorted products such as various dishwashing liquid and Tiger Motorcycle Lubricant, to name a few, were also found at the site.
The representatives of the warehouses and containers were informed by the implementing team to provide importation documents and other pertinent permits covering all goods found thereat. Further investigation is also underway for other possible violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (RA 8293) and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863).
The BOC, under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, continues to protect national interests through the stringent implementation of Customs laws.
