Customs Cagayan De Oro Busts 50M Worth of Cigarettes Declared as Furnitures
CAGAYAN DE ORO – The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Cagayan de Oro has intercepted two container vans containing illicit cigarettes worth of 50 million pesos from China.
The shipment consigned to LMRC 418 Direct Import Export Corp. arrived on February 14, 2021 at Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. Through the receipt of a derogatory information about the shipment, a Pre-Lodgement Control Order was issued by District Collector John Simon of the Port of Cagayan de Oro per recommendation of the CIIS.
Upon inspection, the shipment which was declared as furniture was found to actually contain smuggled cigarettes branded as Marvels and Two Moon.
District Collector John Simon commended the CIIS CDO Field Station headed by IO1 Oliver Valiente for their continued vigilance in border protection.
Meanwhile, a Warrant of Seizure and Detention has been issued for the shipment which will be scheduled for destruction.
